Project Excellence Awards

Cobbins Brook has won the Environment Agency's "Overall Winner" category in their 2010 Project Excellence Awards.

Anser have been involved with the Cobbins Brook scheme, which will significantly reduce the risk of flooding at Waltham Abbey in Essex and includes the largest dam built in SE England in the last 10 years, since 2004.  As Project Manager, we led the team through complex feasibility, planning and compulsory purchase stages ahead of them taking the project to site in early 2009.  Halcrow were Lead Design Consultant.  Jacksons were Principal Contractor.

The Cobbins Brook scheme has also won the Agency's Safety, Health & Environment Award; was highly commended in the environmental category at the Construction News Quality Awards; and collected exceptional merit awards in both the sustainability and physical achievement categories at the ICE East of England Awards.

There were 56 individual projects entered for the 2010 Project Excellence Awards across 4 different categories, representing a total number of 75 entries to be assessed. The awards were open to Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM), national capital programme management service (ncpms), Local Authorities and Operations Delivery projects . The Environment Agency undertake more than 200 projects in a year.
