Renewal of Weirs, Thames
Anser were appointed by the Environment Agency to provide Client project management to their National Capital Programme Management Service (ncpms) for the Paddle & Rymer Weirs project.
The £13m construction project involved the replacement of 9 manually operated Paddle & Rymer weirs in the River Thames with mechanically operated structures. This was a high priority project, due to the elevated H&S operational risks associated with the old structures. The programme for delivery was tight and challenging involving feasibility, design and construction within 2 years.
Anser were asked by the Agency to manage the definition of a project strategy, lead a diverse team of three different consultants from inception, through approval of funding. Work included agreeing preferred options with key stakeholders. Works commenced on site in Summer 2009.
