Flood Risk Management Strategy, N. London
Due to our long history and involvement in the previous stages of the Strategy, Anser were appointed as project manager by the National Capital Programme Management Service (ncpms) in July 2009.
The strategy considered the investment decisions for new and existing flood defence assets in the near, medium and longer terms, over a 100 year lifespan. A strategy was formulated that sought to balance the social, environmental and economic factors of decisions, together with the views of key stakeholders. The whole life costs of the Strategy are in excess of £558m and the catchment’s main asset is the River Lee Flood Relief Channel (FRC) which runs from Hertfordshire to the Thames. The FRC and its associated defences provide protection for over 13,000 properties in Hertfordshire and North London.
Our role has been to oversee completion of the Strategy and to support and promote it through the Agency’s internal approvals process before submission to Defra in October 2010 and subsequent approval and publication during 2012.
