Flood Alleviation Oxfordshire

Flood Alleviation Oxfordshire

Anser were appointed by the Environment Agency in July 2009 to provide project management services to their National Capital Programme Management Service (ncpms) for the Banbury Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The £17m scheme involves the construction of over 3km of earth embankments to provide a 3 million m3 flood storage area to reduce the risk of flooding to the town of Banbury in Oxfordshire by increasing the standard of protection from 1:5 years to 1:200 years. Further works have already been completed downstream including flood barriers, earth bunds and a pumping station.

Our role has been to provide project management services through the tendering, planning and the extremely complex compulsory purchase order processes for the scheme. Works commenced on site in March 2011 & are due to complete in Spring 2012.
